Guide To Every GATE In The Gold Saucer In Final Fantasy XIV

Here's a complete guide to every GATE you can find in Final Fantasy 14's Gold Saucer.

The Gold Saucer is the main hub for mini-games in Final Fantasy 14. There are tons of different attractions to visit and partake in, with periodic special events that all players can participate in together. These special events are called Gold Saucer Active Time Events, or GATEs for short.

A few different GATEs occur at different times around the Gold Saucer, offering new game modes to play and earn some sweet MGP. Below, we'll take a look at every GATE you can find in the Gold Saucer, what their rewards are, and the schedule for when they will occur.

GATEs occur every 20 real-world minutes in the Gold Saucer. Every 20 minutes, a random GATE is selected from a list of three, depending on the current time. You can check the GATE schedule below.

Cliffhanger is a jumping-based GATE where your goal is to ascend a small obstacle course to save a baby Chocobo at the top. By using your jumping skills, you'll need to leap over obstacles to reach the top. However, to make things more interesting, a goblin will constantly throw bombs at you, trying to knock you off the cliff.

Getting hit by one of these bombs will knock you back. If you fall off the edge of the course, you'll have to start back at the beginning. Overall, Cliffhanger is quite short, and after a few tries you should have no problem dodging the goblin's bombs and saving the Chocobo.

You will be awarded 3,000 MGP if you successfully make it to the top of the course within the time limit of the game. If you fail to make it to the top in time, you won't receive anything.

Air Force One is an on-rails shooting mini-game where you will try to shoot down as many targets as you can before the end of the ride. Hitting targets rewards points, while hitting bombs subtracts points. You can check the point breakdown below.

Overall, Air Force One is relatively simple to understand, but may take a few attempts to get the timing of the targets down. At the end of the game, you will be rewarded with MGP based on your performance. You can see how much MGP you get for scoring certain amounts of points below.

Leap of Faith is a jumping-based mini-game that comes in three different variations. It is the only GATE that can occur every 20 minutes. In Leap of Faith, your goal is to jump across a variety of obstacles to reach the finish. However, if you want to score more points, you can collect bronze, silver, and gilded Cactuar statues placed throughout the map.

While the goal of this game is simple, it's one of the most challenging to complete. You'll need excellent judgment and precision to successfully make it through the Leap of Faith courses. You'll earn more MGP depending on how many of each of the types of Cactuar statues you collect.

With the completion bonus of 2,000 MGP, you can get a total of 4,000 MGP for collecting all the statues and successfully reaching the goal within the time limit.

Any Way the Wind Blows is a game of pure luck. In this game, Typhon will use his Snort to try to blow you off the arena. Before each Snort, you can move around the arena and choose a place to stand; you won't be able to move again while Typhon is using Snort, so you'll have to guess where the Snort will land and move accordingly.

Typhon's Snort comes in several different patterns, like lines, circles, and rings. Which type of Snort he uses is completely random.

Typhon will Snort a total of five times. You will be awarded more MGP the more rounds you correctly guess Typhon's Snort. Additionally, you'll earn more points the fewer remaining players there are at the end of the game.

The Slice is Right is a luck and skill-based game where you have to correctly guess where falling bamboo will land. Yojimbo will make a series of cuts on one, two, three, or four stalks of bamboo, that will then fall to the ground. If you are hit by a falling piece of bamboo, or are standing where the next piece of bamboo is summoned, you will be knocked out of the arena.

The game will take place over three rounds, with small mini-games taking place between each round. In each round, Yojimbo will cut progressively more stalks of bamboo, increasing the difficulty of the game over time. However, by watching carefully, you can determine where the bamboo will fall as soon as Yojimbo cuts it.

Single diagonal cut

Line AoE in the direction of the cut.

Multiple diagonal cuts

Circle AoE centered on the bamboo.

Single vertical cut

Two line AoEs on either side of the bamboo.

By studying the way Yojimbo cuts the bamboo, it is possible to dodge every single one of them.

Between the first and second rounds, spectators will throw piles of MGP onto the stage, and Daigoro will quickly leap toward each of them to collect them. If you collect them first, you'll gain bonus MGP, but getting hit by Daigoro's leap will knock you off the stage.

Between the second and third rounds, Yojimbo will summon three giant cups, one with a pile of MGP, one with Daigoro, and one with nothing. The cups will then spin and move around. When they are done moving, you will have a few seconds to decide which cup has the pile of MGP in it. Stand in the section of the arena for the cup you choose, and you will be frozen in place, locking in your choice.

If you correctly choose the MGP cup, your total earnings will be doubled. If you choose the cup with Daigoro, you will be knocked off the stage. If you choose the cup with nothing, nothing will happen. This mini-game is completely luck-based, as the cups move too quickly to accurately track where they end up.

When the game ends, whether by falling off the stage or dodging all of Yojimbo's bamboo, you will be awarded MGP.

If you successfully dodge all bamboo, gather two of the piles, and correctly guess the MGP cup, you can earn a total of 12,000 MGP in a single game of The Slice is Right.
